Have you joined us on Facebook yet? If not, you are welcome to! I would like to share a couple posts I made there last week that you may find helpful.
Here is the first post:
Today I emailed my local Senior Center to see if I could recruit some help for our projects. I would like to challenge each of you to do the same in your local community. This is the (very simple) email I sent:
*****Good morning,
My name is Beth and I am the leader of Beth's Hats for Hope Initiative: Massachusetts. We make hats, mittens, scarves, blankets and other items for homeless and working poor of Massachusetts.
I am wondering if any of the Seniors that are in your program are interested in helping by knitting or crocheting items.
Thank you,
Beth Pitard

Of course you would have to edit it slightly, but you are welcome to use my email as a conversation starter.
Here is a list of City and Town Web Sites within Massachusetts.
http://www.mma.org/city-and-town-web-sites
Just look for Senior Services or Elder Affairs (or something similar) and there should be an email address. If you are unable to find one you should at least be able to find an email address for the Town Clerk who should be able to help you.

IMPORTANT! The Franklin, MA address is no longer a valid shipping address for us. Effective August 1, 2013, any packages received at the Franklin, MA address will be returned to you - I can't have mail forwarded because its a UPS Store. I am very sorry for the inconvenience.
We do have a new PO Box address as of today but I will NOT be able to check it until August 10th so please HOLD your shipment until next week. If you have my home address you can use it and there will be someone here to receive mail.
Another important reminder - if you are sending mittens, socks or slippers, could you please take a moment to tie them together? It will save me the time when I am sorting through donations and I'd hate for mittens to lose their mates. Thank you!
If your organization will need hats for the 2013/14 winter season please send an email to BethsHatsForHope@gmail.com. We are taking requests at this time and will do all we can to help.
If you are looking for a great project to be part of, please check the Needs/Wish List page and Current Projects page for more information or Contact Us.
Have a great week!
